JThe house is located in Janeiro de Cima on the bottom of a valley, near Zêzere River. Around, you will find other villages and mountains (the nearest cities are Fundão and Castelo Branco, 40 and 45 km far away). So, this is a perfect place to take a rest and enjoy the nature!!!. It is known for its houses made of stones (schist and some stones from the river).
The Zêzere river makes the summer a good time to visit this village. Here you will find Casa das Tecedeiras (The Weavers' House) and a good restaurant with traditional food.
Nearby are Barragem de Santa Luzia (an artificial lake), Serra da Lousã, Serra da Estrela, Minas da Panasqueira (volframium mining) and other schist villages.
This is the perfect location for artists, walkers, bird watching and fishing. A very special 'away from it all' place to stay. Once here, it is almost impossible to remember the stressful, noisy world beyond.
The surrounding countryside is a mixture of pine and scented eucalyptus forests, which cover the hills and mountains in a carpet of green. Attractive villages and towns enable visitors to relax and experience rural Portuguese life and the local cuisine. There are also plenty of opportunities to exercise, by either walking or cycling along the numerous cross country tracks, or by enjoying a swim from the Praia fluvial (river beaches) in Summer.
